1-11-11

I can't believe 2011 is here and almost 2 weeks into the year.

it's been so long since I've written on here. I've been busy doing nothing over break. I had time to hang out with my family and friends, and have time to do absolutely nothing. I even got to go to Florida with my mom and spend time with my grandparents. it was wonderful, minus the holding an alligator part.

I came back to school last thursday night, so I could be in evansville for SCF's 'spring training' on friday & saturday. it was wonderful. we learned about studying the Bible and sharing our testimony and how to share Jesus with unbelievers. I learned a lot, and I had a lot of fun being with some of my favorite people. God really has some awesome things planned for this semester.

classes started yesterday. I have classes from 9am-1pm and then 3-4:15pm. I'm taking an intro to theatre class, its a gen-ed. I might enjoy it, but who knows. it's going to force me to go to the theatre performances, so that'll be fun. I'm also taking a drawing class, which is 2 hours long. I'm pretty excited. my professor is fresh out of grad school, and she seems pretty awesome. I'm also in advertising and promotional strategies. it's my first class, aside from foreign language classes, that my professor's first language isn't english. so I'm a little worried about that, but hopefully it won't be too bad. my final class for mondays is digital photography. I can't wait!!! since I got my nikon d5000 for christmas, I can't wait to use it for this class. we're going to be taking pictures and editing them in photoshop.
today I only had two classes. first is art history, from the renaissance to present day. it seems like a lot of work, but I love art so it'll be fine. my other class is painting. I'm pretty darn excited about it. my best friend Becca is in there with me, even though she's an advanced student. this is her 4th semester taking painting. only my first, but I'll probably be taking it again for the rest of my college career.

today, i had my first official servant family meeting for SCF as president. we planned for focus (our large group gathering) on friday. I can't wait for everything that we have planned for this semester! it's going to be just grand. tonight we are meeting with all the small group leaders to plan our small groups for the semester. I'm going to be leading an all girls group with 3 other wonderful girls. It's going to be great!
today when I got home for lunch, I had a note in the mail from my grandma :) it was super encouraging & I'm so glad I have such an awesome grandma! I'll leave you with the poem she sent me:
Help me to see the tragic plight
Of souls far off in sin;
Help me to love, to pray, and go
To bring the wandering in.

crunkuation part 1.5

today is part 1.5 of graduation with my friends.
my roommate Libby is graduating today at 2pm.
that means we're going to have an empty space in our house.
and as of now, no one is moving in, but that might change by the time next semester rolls around.

so I'm finishing up some laundry before we head to the cabin tomorrow.
(I was running out of socks & underdrawers)
while I'm waiting on my laundry, I've been working on my application for the internship this summer.
it's really got me thinking about my life and the way I'm living.
I try my hardest to please God in all aspects of my life, especially my words and actions.
I know I fail at this a lot of the time, but I'm really trying.
constant devotion and prayer, along with awesome Christian friends make this a whole lot easier.
He deserves nothing less than everything I have.

"I will give You thanks
with all my heart;
I will sing Your praise
before the heavenly beings.
I will bow down
toward Your holy temple
and give thanks to Your name
for Your constant love
and faithfulness.
You have exalted Your name
and Your promise above
everything else.
On the day I called, You answered me;
You increased strength within me."
Psalm 138:1-3

with Christmas fast approaching, I'm getting really excited to see my family and spend time with them.
I'm really ready for a break from classes, work and whatnot.
I just don't want to forget the real meaning of Christmas, Jesus' sacrifice.
people tend to forget that Jesus sacrificed His life for us.
"Jesus is the reason for the season"
Jesus wasn't born on dec. 25.
yes, He was once a baby, but even then, He was still fully God, fully Messiah.
we don't worship the baby in the manager, nor the broken man on the cross.
Jesus is alive!
He is reigning on high, He is the I AM!
let's not forget that Jesus came to save us from ultimate death, from our selfish acts.
without His sacrifice, this life would not even be worth living.
Lord, let it all sink in, let us not forget to be thankful for your unconditional love and grace this Christmas.

But the angel said to them, 'Don't be afraid, for look, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people: today a Savior, who is Messiah the Lord, was born for you in the city of David.'
Luke 2:10-11 [emphasis added]

christmas time is coming soon

today is the first day of finals.
i only had one final this afternoon at 12:30pm for art history.
i think it went pretty well, i love art history so it wasn't too much work studying for it.
i only have one more final, and its not until tuesday.
i had one on monday night and one last thursday.
i think they've all gone pretty well thus far.
all finals are done on wednesday, which is the day of graduation.
my roommate libby is graduating.
so i'll be attending the small graduation in our fitness center.
then on thursday, a few of us will be heading to memphis area to spend some time at sara's family's cabin.
it's going to be wonderful.
we're having a secret santa & i'm really excited :)

next semester, i'm going to be president of my student christian fellowship.
we've already started planning .
i'm going to be leading a life group for girls.
i'm really excited!
we might go through a book of a Bible or a book that goes along with the Bible.
we're still working out the logistics of everything.
but i can't wait!!
God truly has some awesome things in store for next semester.
it's going to be great!

there's a possibility i will be able to go to ukraine this summer for an internship.
i'd get to work with village kids, talk & share Jesus with an unreached muslim group, and a campus ministry.
i went the the national missions convention & God opened my eyes to the world of missions and the wonderful things He has going on around the world.
i want to go out and tell everyone about Jesus!
this summer will be a great opportunity!

He said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation!' Mark 16:15
