WELL, i'm back

WELL, i'm back at school. getting back into the swing of things. i moved in on aug. 20 and started classes on aug. 25. it's been so much fun already, getting back with wonderful friends. i love it here so much!

WELL, i moved in early so that i could help freshmen move in the next day. it was a lot fun and a lot of work. sara & i carried a fridge up to the fourth floor of a dorm. basically all freshmen live on the 4th floor, so we did a lot of walking up and down stairs. i was definitely a little sore the next day. my favorite time is when all my friends and i have moved into our houses/dorms/apartments but classes haven't started yet. it's nice. we can just hang out and do whatever we want. we've been to sonic happy hour quite a few times. i almost wish we didn't have to go to class or work or any of those things.

WELL, i've started my new major classes. i was a little worried to begin with, but i think they will be fine. i'm really excited about my computer graphics class because we just got brand new mac desktops. they are beautiful. we'll be using 3 different adobe programs. this will really help me for internships/jobs. i'm also taking media writing, which should be interesting considering i don't really like writing all that much, ha. another class is art history. i'm pretty excited about it as well. i love going to art museums and learning about the history of all kinds of pieces. plus, my friends becca, alex, and marley are in there. it's going to be grand! also, i'm taking a design studio. it's basically an intro for art majors. we'll be working with all different mediums. i had to go buy all kinds of supplies from blick's art store. i can't wait. i actually have another class, but i haven't had it yet. it's intro to art therapy. its my first night class. its on monday nights from 6-8:30pm. it's an art elective. overall, i love my classes thus far. way easier than my science classes were. i'm definitely going to enjoy this semester.

WELL, i love my house and my roommates. i'm living in an on-campus house with 4 other girls. they are all seniors, so they'll be leaving me here soon. but i'm enjoying not being in a dorm anymore. even though i'm not a very good cook, i've got sara. we share a room & she likes to cook. and i like to do the dishes. perfect. libby & bernard share a room. and kaitlin has a room to herself. it once was a sunroom sort of thing. our house is fairly big and i love it. it's a lot of fun and certainly enjoyable. we're going to have a good semester/year.

WELL, i'm watching america pickers with my roomies. i think i'll write more another time.

WOW!

It's almost time for school to start! I can't believe summer is almost over. So much has been going on.

I've been spending a lot of time in Marion at Aldersgate UMC with my lovely high school girls. They are so much fun! I enjoy being the "adult" and making an influence in their lives. They really value my opinion and seem to enjoy talking to me about anything and everything. Last week, we just hung out and talked. We also pranked my friend Alex's car. We saran wrapped it, and put glitter in the layers of saran wrap. We also put streamers all over, and had a Rubik's cube as the hood ornament. We had a lot of fun doing it. This week, we had a pirate themed lock-in. It was great! We played all kinds of games, ate, tried to sleep, got tattoos, just hung out, talked a whole bunch, etc. And instead of getting back at us, Alex made us pancakes for breakfast. I'm probably headed back there tonight for a going away party for Alex and Natalie. I'm so glad I met Alex at UE and he came to Marion this summer, because I have loved getting to know these kids. God has truly blessed me with getting to know them. I have so many new friends that I can talk to, it's so wonderful.

More later about my summer :)

summer days passing by

it's officially summertime. so much has been going on. i love this time of year. no school, no homework, all the time in the world to hang out with my friends and family, church camps, sleeping in, doing anything i want.

a couple weeks ago, i got to be a counselor at a methodist camp with my friend alex. he's the intern to the youth pastor at aldersgate umc in marion, so i get to hang out with him and his youth group kids. camp was a lot of fun. i was a counselor for about 7-9 girls who ranged from going into 8th grade and going into 9th grade. they were a lot of fun and really silly all the time, but i loved it regardless. it reminded me of myself and my friends when we were younger. one of my girls got saved by the end of the week, it was so awesome to be there and be a part of this awesome experience in her life. church camps have a way of letting kids have these experiences. God is so good and faithful. i'm so glad i got to be there for these kids and build new relationships with new friends. i got to know some of the older girls too, and i really love all of my new friends. they are a lot of fun. i will definitely be in marion more often now.

since then, i haven't been doing a whole lot of anything. for the 4th of july, we went to watch fireworks the night before at lake of egypt. it was nice to get to hang out with my parents and jackie & austin and angela. i love getting to be with my favorite people. on the actual 4th, i went to my grandma linda's for a little while and then went to austin's house for a patriotic party. we watched tv and ate and just had fun together. we watched fireworks in one of erin & cacy's dad's fields. it was fun, but i got ate up by bugs. it was still a good time.

monday night, angela & i went to a concert in evansville. forever the sickest kids, the scene aesthetic, the ready set, a cursive memory, and phone calls from home. it was awesome. mostly junior high and high school kids, but it was still fun. i love concerts and the awesome vibe being there. one day, i'd like to be a merch girl for a band and travel all over the country & world. one day, haha.

tuesday was mom's birthday. we worked out with all her friends. then we had yummy breakfast at bbq barn. then mom & i headed to marion and carbondale to shop and hang out. we saw the movie killers and it was hilarious! i had a good time with the bestest mom in the whole world. God definitely blessed me with a wonderful mom, whom i can talk to about anything.

this past week was senior camp down at camp oxford. i didn't get to go down but one evening. but when i did get down there, it was awesome. the kids seemed to be having a good time and definitely getting into Jesus. i like getting to see the kids grow closer to God. He's definitely using camp oxford, and i love it. i've been going there since forever, its just a great place to get to know God more.

sunday is the world cup final and my team is going to win it all!!
GO SPAIN!!!!!!
dad & i are having a world cup party, kind of like a super bowl party only better. i can't wait. we've been watching all the games. we like to dissect every pass and every touch on the ball and every goal and every foul. it's probably one of my favorite things to do. we're so much alike.

that's all i've got for now. i think i'll go read a book :)
