Longest Week Ever

It's Saturday night, and I'm sitting in my room watching Grease. I slept in this morning, and I've been watching television and working on homework all day. I've gotten a lot accomplished; it's been a grand Saturday. It's Road-Trip weekend, so I have a potential UE student sleeping in my room for the weekend. Her name is Ashley, she's from somewhere near Cincinnati, OH. She's a cheerleader and is hoping to cheer here at UE. She's applied to another school near Louisville, KY; she just hasn't decided yet. She seems to be very interested in UE. We stayed up late last night just talking about all kinds of stuff, she's pretty cool.

Well, just after I last blogged [the one from the hospital], we had to call the rest of the family, because the nurse couldn't get a blood pressure. Everyone was there really quickly, and we were all gathered around great-grandpa in his little hospital room. That was about 10:30 pm. We waited, and waited, and waited. At about 2:30 am, my uncle Dwight and aunt Sunday drove me home because we thought he would make it to morning. By the time I got home at around 3:00 am, grandpa Hal was gone. It didn't really sink in until Sunday. All day Saturday was just a slight blur.

Last Saturday for Valentine's Day, my dad took me and my mom shopping in Marion and Carbondale. I got a North Face jacket, I had been wanting one for so long. I just had never gotten one because they are so expensive, but we were at Dick's Sporting Goods and I found the perfect one in the little boys' section. And it was only $60. I was pretty excited! This was my major purchase for the day. I bought a book, some slippers, and little stuff like that. We ate at McCallister's Deli in Marion. It was fabulous. Everywhere else had super long waits, and we just got right in at McCallister's. After dinner, we went to Marion's Civic Center to see the play "Sabrina Fair." It was really good. There weren't very many people there, but it was still very good.

The rest of the week seemed to drag on. I had to go back to school Sunday night and study, because I had an Anatomy quiz and Art exam on Monday. I was supposed to have an Anatomy Lab exam Tuesday, but my professor excused me from that. I went home Tuesday morning to be with my family. We had to go buy Dane some nice, dress clothes to wear to the visitation and funeral. We had to be at the funeral home at 4:00 pm, because we are family. The visitation didn't get over until 8:00 pm. It was a very long night, with lots of people I didn't know. I hung around the back of the room, and occasionally sneaking away to hide downstairs. After the visitation, me and my cousin Ame went to Tequilas. I had been craving it and there was nothing else I wanted to do. Wednesday morning, we had to be at the Raleigh church at 9:00 am for more visitation before the funeral. Even more people I don't know, and it dragged on. The funeral service finally started at 11:00 am, and lasted for about 30 minutes, but then we had to go to the cemetery. It was super windy and very cold. It was short and quick and perfect for grandpa. I really miss him. He was a great man, everyone knew him and he was well-respected throughout the community. He's one of my heroes. I want to live to be 96 and tell stories to my great-grandchildren. That would be a wonderful legacy.

All my professors were real great about me missing my classes. I was even excused from some assignments. I didn't need it, but it made things a lot easier when I got back. Everyone was concerned with my well-being. I'm glad I can talk to my professors and they understand.

More another time :)

Hospital Times

Hello all. I'm writing from the hospital. My great-grandpa Hal has been in the hospital since last Friday. He's not doing good at all. He's on the verge of death, but I wish it would come already. I know that sounds morbid, but he hasn't been awake the whole time he's been here. He's ready to go and he knows where he's going. I love him a whole lot, I just want him to feel better.

Tonight, Dad and I are staying the night with him, taking our turn. We played rummy, and I kicked his butt by like 200 points :) I learned from the best. We're just chilling, each on a laptop, just waiting. We'll be here all night with him.

More to come later.

Happy Birthday Kayla!

Today is my friend Kayla's 19th birthday. Her room is decorated entirely in pink streamers and balloons, and Hello Kitty. Both of which are her favorite things. She got Taylor Swift concert tickets to the show in Evansville. She's super excited, since T-Swift is her favorite singer. She seems to be having a great day, she's out to eat with her parents tonight.

I've been working, going to class, and studying these past couple of days. Not much else to do. I'm working out everyday, and eating less. I'm really trying to lose some weight and get some tone while doing it. I'm not sure how well its working, but I'm feeling a little bit better. I'm working on my quiet time with God, it's coming slowly but surely. I'm trying to take time out of my "busy" schedule for him. I want to take the time, but I tend to forget, and then I get discouraged. I'm working on it. I'll get it eventually. I pray for God's strength and courage, and for Him to give me the ability to clear my schedule for my great Lord and Master.

Not much else to write today, I'll write more another time! :D

Love to Say Your Name

Love To Say Your Name by John Waller
Love to say Your name
Love to feel it falling from my lips
Resonates with me
I love to say Your name
It's the way they tell me who You are
And I believe
I love to see darkness flee
When I sing Elohim, my Creator
Adonai, Lord, my Master
My provider, Jehovah-Jireh
God of blessings, El-Shaddai
I love to say Your name

Love to say Your name
Like a city on a hill, I will
Put them on display
Love to say Your name
There's a power and authority
Over my enemies
I love to see faces change when
I praise Elohim, my Creator
Adonai, Lord and Master
Mr Provider, Jehovah-Jireh
God of blessings, El-Shaddai
I love to say Your name

El-Elyon, the Most High God
Jehovah-Shalom, the Peace of my heart
Jehovah-Papha, God, my Healer
Jehovah-Shammah, never leaves us nor forsakes us

I praise Elohim, my Creator
Adonai, Lord and Master
My Provider, Jehovah-Jireh
God of blessings, El-Shaddai
I love to say Your name
I love to say Your name
I love to say Your name
I love to say Your name

This is a great song! All the names of God. He deserves utmost praise, no matter what you call Him! God is good! His name be high and lifted up!!

This is has been a great week! I've been doing a lot of studying. I went with Angela to Campus Outreach at USI on Wednesday night. It was really good. They were dissecting mainstream songs. I enjoyed it and I'll probably go back this week. Friday night, Angela and I went to He's Just Not That Into You. It was hilarious. I hadn't laughed that much in a long time. Then I stayed the night at Angela's dorm. It was a great time, I love hanging out with my best friend. We don't get to hang out as much since we're in college, even if we go to school in the same town. We try to hang out as much as possible. Saturday I worked on my Art project and studied my Anatomy and Physiology. This morning I headed home for the day. My great-grandpa is really sick and in the hospital. I wanted to see him. He's not doing very good. I hope he gets better soon. I don't want to lose another great-grandparent, but he's 97 and very sick. If he does die, he'll be better off. I love him so much. I hope this week is just as great as this past week! :D

super bowl sunday

What a weekend!

Friday afternoon, I decided to head home since my 2 o-clock class was cancelled. So around noon, I went to gather my stuff to go home. I got to my snow-covered car around 12:15. I spent the next hour and a half scraping the ice off my car and getting out of my parking spot. I was sweating tremendously by the time I was finished. I preceded to drive home. The roads were kind of slick and a little icy. I met my dad at Star Church, and then rode with him to McLeansboro to the DMV. I went to get a Driver's License. There was no one there except my dad and me. I didn't have to get a new picture, and it only cost $5. I was pretty excited to get a new license. Driving without one made me really nervous. After that, dad and I played in a snow at home. He dragged me behind the four-wheeler on an old knee board. Brody chased me around the yard. It was a lot of fun and reminded me of old times. Then I headed to Erin and Cacy's house for sledding fun. Erin, Cacy, Jackie and I were all sledding and having a grand time. The Ellis' have an old car hood as a sled attached to a ranger. It was lots of fun. You didn't hardly fall off at all. But there was a hole in the front, that kept shooting ice/snow into my ice. It kinda hurt. Then we went inside and ate chili and watched You've Got Mail. We had a good time. On the way out, I tripped on my boots, and fell hard. I hit my chin, my right knee, and right wrist. It hurt pretty bad and now I have a nice bruise on my knee. I felt like a complete idiot. No one saw me, thank goodness.

Saturday, I slept in until 10 am. Then my mom and I went to the Dollar Store and the Super ROC One Stop! I had to get a new key made for my car, which only cost $2. I'm liking the cheapness of replacing the things I lost. It has made lots of things better. At the Dollar Store, we rummaged through all the leftover Christmas stuff. Lots of things were only $.10 or $.20. Lots of good bargains. We then went home to wait for dad to get home from work. After he got home, we built a snowman on our dock. He was a fisherman snowman, complete with fishing pole, tackle box, sunglasses, and straw hat. We were pretty proud of our creation. We then headed to Morellos for dinner. We had my favorite, BBQ chicken nachos and BBQ chicken pizza. Very delicious! Wal-Mart was our next stop to walk off our meal. Plus, I needed some things to take back to school. We walked around for a while, then headed home. Mom made snickerdoodle cookies and oatmeal heath cookies, my favorites! While we were watching Anchorman, which is still funny no matter how many times I've seen it. We preceded to stay up and look at old pictures, and I put some on my laptop.

This morning, we headed to church to cook breakfast. The bus wasn't running because of the weather, but there are other people that come to eat. Mom and I ended up getting stuck in the parking lot as soon as we got there. Not good. We were one of the first people there, and had to get pushed out. The parking was all out of whack today. But I think it all worked out. We made breakfast, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy. YUMMY!! Then we cleaned up and headed to church, which was pretty good. Pastor Jeff talked about Grace. I enjoyed it a whole lot. When church was over, mom and I went home. We had a little trouble getting down our road, but we finally made it to the house and got stuck right behind my car. We eventually pushed it from behind my car. We then headed inside for lunch. We had leftover BBQ chicken pizza, even yummier the second time around! :) We tried to push my car out, it took us about an hour to get my car unstuck. We were having a rough time at it, but finally we got it out. Bethel Creek Road was a little mushy and hard to drive down, but I prevailed. I made it to Evansville in the normal amount of time. I got to my school, and there was a parking spot right in the front! WOOOO! I carried all my stuff up to my room. Only two trips this time, odd for me. Came upstairs just in time for the Super Bowl. I watched it in my room with Rachel and Daniel. We had a good time, laughing at commercials and yelling at the bad calls. I did some laundry and still have all my stuff laying on my bed. I need to go put everything away!
